Description:
Join New York City-based fine art and fashion photographer Mark de Paola and the Leica Akademie USA in New York City for our newest Masterclass, "On Location: Fashion Photography" from March 21-23, 2025 photographing editorial fashion and beauty.
This 3-day shooting intensive workshop will take place on the streets of New York City and in studio around the most iconic facades of the city. Limited to six participants, students will have the unique opportunity to work with Mark in creating unique editorial stories in a real-life fashion editorial shoot simulation. Mark will address shooting techniques for fashion and portraiture utilizing wide open apertures and high ISO settings within the limitations of the camera, shooting editorial for different styles of print publication, shooting a beauty story in studio, and editing your story down to its' most impactful images for publication.
This masterclass opportunity will teach students to learn the fashion editorial process from story concept to final editing and publication. Utilizing only natural light during the day, students will also learn to shoot for tight deadlines and rapid turn around with little need for, if any, post production editing. Throughout the program students will have the unique opportunity to work with a complete fashion team with Mark as instructor as well as a stylist, hair stylist, makeup artist, production, locations, and model collaborator.
In addition, de Paola will help instruct students through the variety of daylight environments utilizing hard light, soft light, and shadow in learning how to bend and place the light onto a subject for portraiture.
On the final day, students will have individually scheduled review time with Mark before the final masterclass student presentation.
