Karin Rehn-Kaufmann, born 1957 in Freiburg, studied German philology and philosophy at the University of Freiburg after leaving school. She also holds a diploma from the Eurythmische Hochschule in Stuttgart, where she was subsequently employed as a lecturer from 1982 to 1986. In addition to this, she is also a graduate of the Fernuniversität Hagen (distance teaching university) in Event Management.?

After ACM Projektentwicklung GmbH, Salzburg, bought into Leica Camera AG in 2005, her long-standing passion for photography led to the opening of the Leica Galerie in Salzburg in 2008.?

Today, Karin Rehn-Kaufmann is Art Director & Chief Representative Leica Galleries International and holds management responsibility for the 21 Leica Galleries around the world.?

She has successfully curated numerous prestigious exhibitions including, for instance, the project ‘Chinaflug’, an exhibition showing spectacular aerial photography from the 1930s that was presented at the Chinese Embassy in Berlin and at ‘Photo Shanghai’ in 2015. She is also held responsibility for exhibition concepts for the Leica Galerie at the photokina in 2012, 2014 and 2016, as well as the ‘10x10’ exhibition on the occasion of the jubilee ‘100 years of Leica photography’, and ‘50 best for Leica’ – an exclusive collection of the most famous photographs taken by the prominent US Magnum photographer Elliot Erwitt.?

Karin Rehn-Kaufmann has been a member of the jury of the Leica Oskar Barnack Awards since 2008 and has played a significant role in the organisation and further development of the prestigious photographic competition. ?

Elizabeth Krist: A photography editor at National Geographic for over 20 years, Elizabeth Krist is now on the boards of Women Photograph and the W. Eugene Smith Fund. She often works with the Eddie Adams Workshop, CatchLight, and with Apple. She curated the Women of Vision exhibition and book, and co- curated four Photoville installations. She teaches for ICP, and often judges grants and competitions. Recently she has collaborated with the Griffin Museum of Photography, Authority Collective, Magnum Foundation, and the Joop Swart Masterclass.

Laura Roumanos (she/her/hers) is a Lebanese Creative Producer hailing from Australia, serving as the co-Founder of Photoville, a non-profit organization devoted to cultivating a wide, diverse audience for visual storytelling by producing a free annual photo festival in NYC, activating public spaces, and connecting artists to a worldwide audience through educational programming and community events. Laura graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, Australia and worked as a Theatrical and Events Producer before making the big move to NYC 18 years ago. Since then, Laura has worked in New York for the Manhattan Theatre Club, St. Ann’s Warehouse, Creative Time, The Future of StoryTelling, and the World Science Festival, in general management and senior producing roles respectively.

Laura has also produced several large scale theatrical shows for creatives such as Karen O, Bryce Dessner, Richard Reed Parry, Spike Jonze, Opening Ceremony and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. For the past 10 years, Laura has co-produced the New York Photography Portfolio Reviews with the New York Times and also continues to consult, manage, and produce numerous theatrical shows, events and public programs, in addition to teaching the Business of Art course at the NYU Tisch School. She is currently the Senior Creative Producer at Meta producing Instagram’s @design account. Laura has built a reputation in the New York Arts scene as someone to go to for consultation and advice regarding public art and multi-disciplinary projects and events across all mediums.

Maggie Steber

Maggie Steber, an internationally renowned documentary photographer who has worked in 73 countries. Known for her photo essays in National Geographic Magazine and her documentation of Haiti, Aperture published her book Dancing on Fire: Photographs from Haiti.

Steber is a Guggenheim Fellow, Pulitzer Prize Finalist, Lucie Foundation Awardee, Knight Foundation Grantee, World Press Photo Awardee, Oversees Press Awardee and the Leica Medal of Excellence among other recognitions. She was a photo editor at Associated Press, a contract photographer for Newsweek, and Director of Photography at The Miami herald. She is a member of Vll Agency and Foundation.

Natalia is a senior picture editor on the National desk at The Washington Post, where she covered the Trump presidency, 2020 election, and January 6th insurrection. Before joining the Post, she managed the photography team at NBC News where she also art directed and commissioned illustrations. She has served as a juror for photography awards for the Overseas Press Club, American Photography 37, and NPPA’s Best of Photojournalism. Natalia was faculty on the first Women Photograph workshop held in Latin America in 2019 and was a mentor in their 2021 program. She was first drawn to visual editing while an assistant to photographers Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb as they developed longform visual narratives through book publishing. Though she has focused on digital storytelling for most of her career, she retains an appreciation for the tactile experience of photography books and aims to apply that thoughtfulness to her everyday work.

Nikki Reed is a prolific actress, designer and environmentalist, best known for co-writing / starring in the film ‘Thirteen’ when she was just 13 years old. A passionate environmentalist and sustainability guru, Nikki Reed has long been a leading voice in eco. The Founder and CEO of sustainable fine jewelry & lifestyle brand Bayou With Love, Reed also serves as the Creative Director of eco-friendly vegan sneaker brand LOCI footwear. Nikki focuses on innovation, versatility and longevity of pieces through her use of recycled tech gold and solar grown diamonds with Bayou, incorporating that circular and regenerative approach into every brand she works with. Additionally, she represents the iconic camera brand LEICA as a photographer and sits as an investor/strategic advisor for clean medicine brand Genexa. She won the Audience Award at CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) for her partnership with Dell Computers where they highlighted the first ever jewelry collection using gold from their recycled DELL technology, designed by Nikki.  Her notable efforts in championing conservation and sustainability are also seen through her work as a board member of the Environmental Media Association, a UN Ambassador for the Environment, as well as a board member for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation where she served as Vice President for 5 years, which recently donated $1 million in 2021 to The Jane Goodall Institute to support global wildlife and environment conservation.?

Lucy Westcott became director of CPJ’s Emergencies Department in October 2021. She oversees CPJ’s assistance and safety work worldwide. Westcott joined CPJ in 2018 as the James W. Foley Fellow. During her fellowship, she focused on safety issues for women journalists in non-hostile environments and assisted with the creation of safety resources for journalists globally. In 2021, she played a prominent role in CPJ’s response to the Afghan crisis, including helping Afghan journalists and their families evacuated to Qatar. Prior to joining CPJ, Westcott was a staff writer for Newsweek, where she covered gender and immigration. She has reported for outlets including The Intercept, Bustle, The Atlantic, and Women Under Siege, and was a United Nations correspondent for the Inter Press Service. As a fellow with the International Reporting Project in 2016, Westcott wrote about gender and development in South Africa and Lesotho. She has reported from Egypt, Jordan, Cameroon, and the U.S. She has a master’s in multi- platform journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.

Kathryn Boyd Brolin is a photographer, director, actor and entrepreneur based in Santa Barbara. She attended University of Georgia and Santa Reparata School of Arts before graduating from UGA with a degree in Journalism.  She began her career in the film industry before founding her business, Midheaven, for which she serves as its President and Creative Director. She serves as an ambassador for Leica and has gone on to shoot features for publications including Men’s Journal, The Rake and Hollywood Reporter among others and exhibited with Leica’s Los Angeles Gallery along with their international online platform. She currently lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Josh, and two daughters, Westlyn and Chapel, and is currently entering the festival circuit with her first film, “Mother’s Day.” In her spare time, Boyd Brolin works passionately to raise money for her and her husband’s family foundation, benefiting myriad organizations relating to children, families and cancer research.

Ana Linares is a photographer who lived in New York City (NYC) for 17 years and now travels around the globe with a home base between NY and Miami.
During her time in NYC she worked as a product designer and was awarded numerous design recognitions by the Museum of Modern Art and exhibited her work in many major design venues around the world.
Prior to pursuing her dream of being a full-time photographer, she worked for Ralph Lauren Home in NYC. Ana now focuses on travel photography for magazines and product/lifestyle photography for hotels and fashion labels based in Paris, LA, London and NYC.
As a photographer, her work has been featured in Condé Nast Traveller, Elle Decor, Vogue Australia, Travel & Leisure, Assouline books and more. She has produced virtual contents for a large number of brands and companies in lifestyle, hospitality, destinations as well as transportation industries.

Mary McCartney is a world renowned photographer, film-maker and sustainable food pioneer. As a leading British creative, her work covers multiple disciplines, but is always rooted in her passion for impactful storytelling.

As a portrait and fine art photographer, McCartney’s work has been featured globally, with exhibitions taking place in London, New York, San Francisco and France and in 2015 was invited by Buckingham Palace to take the official photograph to mark Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest reigning Monarch. Her work is held in major private and public permanent collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the National Portrait Gallery, London; The Royal Academy, London; and the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, Paris, and has been commissioned by leading publications including National Geographic, British Vogue and GQ.  

In 2023, McCartney’s first feature documentary If These Walls Could Sing, the untold story of the Abbey Road Studios 90 year history, was selected to premiere at The Telluride Film Festival. Streaming globally on Disney+ and was nominated for a Critics Choice Documentary Award.

McCartney is a multi- published author, with a range of fine art photography books available from globally renowned publishers including, HENI, Thames & Hudson and Chatto & Windus. Combining her passion for food and publishing, her latest book Feeding Creativity, published by TASCHEN is a unique hybrid coffee table, portrait and recipe book, featuring favourite recipes for friends, family, and members of the creative community.

Eva Woolridge (she/her) stands at the forefront of contemporary photography and filmmaking, blending her Black- American/Chinese American heritage into a vivid exploration of femininity's intricacies. As one of the first Leica Women in Foto Award recipients since its inception in 2019, Woolridge has exhibited her compelling work internationally, with showcases in Berlin, Brazil, Washington State, Boston, and Washington D.C. Her lens has caught the attention of renowned publications such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Harper's Bazaar, and The Boston Globe, solidifying her presence as a groundbreaking artist. Recent exhibitions, including "29 Million Dreams" in NYC and The Boston Leica Gallery, foreshadow an upcoming show at the Leica Gallery in Miami in 2024. Woolridge's art extends beyond galleries, finding a place in the collections of private art enthusiasts internationally, including the Instagram NYC Headquarters and auctioned at the Massachusetts Arts and Design College. A tireless advocate, Woolridge is a public speaker who addresses racial disparities in photography through workshops and seminars at such institutions as the historical Schomburg Center of Harlem Research, Leica Akademie and Photoville in 2023. In 2020 Woolridge sat on the Diversity Advisory Council for Fuji Cameras of North America. Adding to her impactful presence, Woolridge has delivered a Tedx Talk, showcasing her insights and further solidifying her influence. As a queer woman of color, she continues to shape a new, inclusive narrative of feminine energy, and social justice using her art to comment on and transcend societal norms.

Sara Rumens

Sara Rumens is the Features Picture Editor at The Times, commissioning photographers internationally for the supplements within the newspaper and online. Her background is in magazine photography - she was part of the launch team for Grazia in the UK. Previously Sara spent seven years as editorial director at Magnum Photos following her early informative years in New York working on magazines such as Interview and Rolling Stone. Since first gaining her post graduate degree at LCC in Photojournalism, she now returns to lecture and conduct portfolio reviews there as well as a range of other courses including the Magnum Professional Practice Workshops. She has served as judge on several international competitions including Amnesty International Media Awards, Leica Women Foto Project, The Irish Press Awards and the PX3 Prix in Paris.
