Join us for an immersive Leica Akademie workshop that challenges conventions and inspires a new wave of wedding photographers. Led by renowned photographers John Dolan and Daniel Silbert, this workshop is designed to bring your unique street style into the world of wedding photography by discovering how to push boundaries and step away from the pack. Through exercises and personalized guidance, you'll unlock a new perspective, seeing weddings as an exciting canvas for creativity. Street and documentary photographers will discover that weddings are the perfect playground for bold, authentic storytelling—making an industry once seen as dull, truly extraordinary.
Objectives:
- Demonstrate that wedding photography can be an art form, blending documentary storytelling with creative expression.
- Break down preconceived notions about photographing weddings, encouraging a fresh, artistic perspective.
- Discuss and guide attendees on the importance of gear selection in order to achieve desired look.
- Foster meaningful conversations around the purpose and approach to wedding photography.
- Provide hands-on exercises aimed at transforming personal visions into compelling wedding imagery.

10:30 - 11:30 – Introduction & Conversation: Opening dialogue on the photographers’ perspectives on wedding photography and their experiences with street and documentary work
11:30-12:30 – The Art of Observation & Storytelling: Exercises to sharpen observational skills and develop a narrative approach.
1:30-2:30 – Lunch
2:30-3:30 – Practical Shooting Sessions: Guided street-style and documentary-style assignments
1:30-4:30 – Closing & Next Steps: Strategies for integrating the workshop experience into participants’ own photographic projects.

Morning – Student work independently through their images at home

Street and documentary photographers, photojournalists, wedding professionals, and visionaries interested in expanding their creative possibilities into the realm of wedding photography. This course will give you confidence to approach your subjects in a more natural style.
What should you know before taking this course:
A Leica camera is not required to take this class. We will have a variety of Leica Cameras and lenses available to try as well as some L-Mount lenses. This workshop is a great opportunity for you to explore and try different lenses.
Participants should have a basic knowledge of photography and ability to use their camera. Come with an open mind and eagerness to learn, and this course will unlock new photographic possibilities.
