In the digital landscape of photography, the modern photographer can have thousands of images and yet never hold them beyond a screen. This two-day workshop lead by L.A. based Fine Art Photographer, Stephen Vanasco seeks to change that by guiding students through his printing process from start to finish.
This course is intended to help students gain confidence in the printing process and leave with the ability to print on their own should they choose. Complex concepts like paper choice, editing software, and storage of prints are all covered in this course.
Topics Covered:
- Hardware - Printers, monitors, calibrators, varnishes
- SoSware - Best software for printing, plug-ins, icc profiles, working color spaces
- Archiving - storing your prints properly
- Importance of printing and understanding your photos better
- Paper Types - Discuss importance of paper types and how they can effect your print
- Selling prints - Materials needed to ship prints along with set up and soSware.
Who should take this workshop:
Any photographer with an interest to see their pictures in a new way and has a desire to start printng their work. Photographers working on a series and would like to make the next step into print are encouraged to sign up.
What to know about this workshop:
Paper will be provided by Moab paper at no extra costs to students. There will also be a catered lunch on Sunday during the image review.

Saturday: 10:00am-5:00pm:
Course Introduction: Participants will disucss their backgrounds and motivations in printing their work. From there students will be lead through the above mentoned hardware and software. Along with a checklist of items that should be done before one jumps into printing.
Sunday: 12:00pm-5:00pm:
Students will select the paper types and what images they would like to print. Once done students will share their work and review what they learned. This will be followed by Stephen breaking down the more advanced priniciples of printing in the photography world.
