Now, eleven aperture blades are used for a visibly improved bokeh. In addition, the closest focusing distance was reduced from 27.5 to 15.7 inches (70cm to 40cm). After a slight perceptible resistance, the extended close-focus range between 27.5 and 15.7 inches can be controlled via Live View on the back screen, the Leica M EV1's electronic viewfinder, or the Leica FOTOS app. Lastly, the lens hood is now round, directly integrated in the lens and can be easily available at any time.
The Leica M EV1 combines the traditional values of the M-System with the advantages of an integrated electronic viewfinder (EVF). The diopter compensation and practical focus assists facilitate precise manual focusing – in particular when using the fast Leica Summilux and Noctilux lenses with very shallow depths of field as well as with ultra wide-angle, telephoto, and macro lenses.
