Description:

Join veteran photographer and educator, Julia Dean, for this jam-packed five-day street photography workshop in Los Angeles. There are daily photography demonstrations and lectures on how to see well, how to move quickly, how to anticipate a moment, how to get close, how to work a situation, and how to use a wide-angle lens effectively. You will also learn the law and ethics of street photography, how to get comfortable, and how to blend in.

The week will begin by looking at street photography by talented contemporary photographers. Julia will discuss their images, pointing out what made their photos such a great shot. Julia talks extensively about seeing every inch of your frame. You will learn to see in 3D, and to capture (visually interesting) layers in one single photograph with a wide-angle lens. There will be daily assignments based on the lecture that day.

Two extra perks that you get from this workshop are (1) you get to use Leica equipment and (2) Michael Baker, a Leica employee, Akademie instructor, and expert on everything Leica, will be part of the class. You will have both Julia Dean and Michael Baker at your disposal all week, in the classroom and on location.
